From the West - June 2025

The month of June is full of many events such as the 81st Anniversary of D-Day, the U.S. Open, Father’s Day, and the Summer Solstice— the official beginning of Summer.

The WM asked that I use the next few Trestle Board articles to let you know my leadership style, vision, plan and philosophy for 2026. I’ll start with some highlights I used for my Command Philosophy and Leadership style I used as a Battalion Commander and Senior Staff positions in the Army.

Leadership Style:
I am an INTJ (Introvert – Intuitive – Thinking –Judgment) personality type. INTJs are known as "the Architect" or "the Mastermind". They are strategic, logical, and independent thinkers, often focused on the future and driven to create systems and solve complex problems. INTJs like structure, details, practical, matter of fact, efficient and effective organization, and base decisions on logic and objective analysis. INTJs tend to have original mind and great drive for their own ideas and purposes. Intuitive Thinkers (NT) tend to be conscious of possibilities in people and things. They are continually asking the question, 'Why?' and their Achilles heel is incompetence.

Strategic and Analytical: They excel at planning and problem-solving, often seeing the bigger picture. They have long-range vision and quickly find meaningful patterns in external events. Skeptical, critical, independent, and determined, they have high standards of competence and performance. INTJs make decisions based on logic and reason, rather than emotions. They prefer structure and
order, and like to have plans in place.

Independent and Self-Reliant: INTJs are confident and capable of working independently, often preferring autonomy in their work. INTJs draw energy from spending time alone and reflect on their thoughts.

Creative and Innovative: They are open to new ideas and enjoy developing unique solutions. They focus on possibilities and patterns, preferring concepts over concrete details.

Focused and Determined: INTJs are persistent and driven, often seeking to achieve their goals. INTJs may find it challenging to engage in casual conversation or emotional discussions. INTJs may sometimes struggle to understand or empathize with the emotions of others. They can be resistant to change and may have difficulty adapting to unexpected situations.

Personal Approach: I like calm, friendly dialog – not a "yeller" or "screamer." I rarely swear...however you will not
have any problem figuring out when I am upset. Do not mistake my easy-going style for a lack of standards or formality. I am a people person and believe in a team approach. I will usually ask for your input before making decisions but once I make a decision, I expect your full support.

I process information visually...I would rather see one drawing or picture than a 200 word essay. I like short, to the point, meetings, phone conversations, texts etc...

Strategic Vision: Ensure the Long-Term Stability of The Villages Masonic Lodge by Making Good Men Better.

Our Quarterly Road Clean-up is scheduled for Saturday, June 21st. We all meet at Perkins Restaurant (905 Bichara Blvd. in Lady Lake) at 0745 for breakfast and we are usually finished by 1000.

Once again, it takes the entire Lodge Team to be successful, so please don’t hesitate to provide any input to make OUR Lodge better.
