Brethren, April is here, and so with it comes Spring, we have a full agenda of events this month.
In ancient Rome, April, or Aprilis, was the fourth month of the year, associated with the founding of Rome on April 21st, and featured festivals like Parilia (cleansing of flocks) and Floralia (honoring Flora). April was a busy month for farmers, marked by festivals devoted to aspects of rural life.
Masonic historical events during April include:

XApril 7, 1909 - Bro. Robert E. Peary reached the North Pole.
XApril 8, 1856 - Bro. Booker T. Washington, African American educator, leader and Prince-Hall Mason was born near Hale’s Ford, Virginia. Bro. Washington founded XXXthe Tuskegee Institute of Alabama in 1884 and became its President.
XApril 14, 1902 - Bro. James C. Penney opened his first store, in Kemmerer, Wyoming.

The Strategic Planning Committee is working on a 3-5 year plan for our lodge. Our five “Strategic Pillars” will focus on:
Community Outreach; Charity; Masonic Education; Membership Development; and Property and Facilities. If you have any insights or recommendations, please don’t hesitate to contact me with input. Remember, this is OUR lodge, and all input is welcome.
I want to thank the sevenbrothers who helped support the last Quarterly Road Clean-up. We collected 43 pounds of trash and debris. More than usual. Our next Quarterly Road Clean-up is scheduled for Saturday, June 21st . We all meet at Perkins Restaurant (905 Bichara Blvd in Lady Lake) at 0745 for breakfast and we are usually finished by 1000.
Once again, it takes the entire lodge team to be successful, so please don’t hesitate to provide any input to make OUR lodge better.
