From the West - February

Brethren,

The month of February starts with a jam-packed schedule for our Lodge. We have our Stated meeting coming up on Monday the 9th, which includes the official visit by the DDGM, Fellowcraft degree on Thursday the 12th and our Valentines Dance on Saturday, February 14th. Additionally, we also have Open Books and District School of Instruction on February 11th for those interested in expanding their knowledge of Masonic ritual, Social Dinner on Monday February 16th and Masters and Wardens on Wednesday February18th being hosted by the Villages Masonic Lodge. A lot of work and a lot of commitment but this is what we do as Masons.

Starting in March, we’ll have a table set up at Brownwood Town Square where we’ll be handing out information. We are looking for brothers to man the station for a few hours from 9am to 1:30pm. This will be part of our Outreach Program to make us more visible in the Villages community. We will have a sign-up sheet available both at the Stated Meeting and on the Website, please look to spend as much time as you can spare to help us make a difference.

I want to paraphrase something from Square Thoughts.

XA man who has actually been changed by the Craft will naturally want to serve. Not because it’s on the Lodge calendar. XBecause transformation produces generosity the way a tree produces fruit. You don’t need programs for this you need men who Xhave been genuinely affected by the degrees, who’ve been with the symbols long enough to be shaped by them, who’ve Xexperienced the secret and silent forces affecting them. Those men will find ways to serve.

PS: If you are in need of a ride please contact any one of your elected officers and we will get you a ride to the Lodge for our Stated meeting on Monday February 9th.

Fraternally,

Carl Chew,  Senior Warden
