Brethren, February is here, and while it is the shortest month of the year, we
have a full agenda of events this month. In ancient Rome, February was the shortest month of the
year and was associated with purification and ancestor veneration. The name February comes from
the Latin word Februarius, which is derived from the term februum meaning "to purify".
Masonic historical events during February include
The Washington Monument was dedicated in a Masonic ceremony on February 21, 1885.
President Theodore Roosevelt gave his famous "Man with the Muckrake" speech after the Masonic
cornerstone ceremony for the House of Representatives 1906.
As busy as we may be, we still need to focus on our Masonic obligations. We look forward to your input and
support as we continue to plan and execute our Lodge programs this year. If you feel you could contribute
your expertise on any committee, please let us know...we can always use your help, especially our newest
Dual Members.
Our next Quarterly Road Clean-up is scheduled for Saturday, March 22nd (a change from the last Trestle
Board). We all meet at Perkins Restaurant (905 Bichara Blvd in Lady Lake) at 0745 for breakfast and we are
usually finished by 1000.
Once again, it takes the entire Lodge Team to be successful, so please don’t hesitate to provide any input to
make OUR Lodge better.
Fraternally, Bruce Ferri, Senior Warden
